Turning on the computer and logging in
When turning on a computer, it’s important to be aware of the different parts that make up the computer. The monitor is the screen that displays the image, while the tower or laptop contains the computer’s hardware and processing power. Peripherals such as the keyboard and mouse allow the user to interact with the computer.
To turn on the computer, locate the power button on the tower or laptop and press it once. The computer will then start up and begin the boot process, during which it checks the hardware and software components to ensure everything is working properly. Depending on the computer, the user may also be prompted to enter a password or PIN to continue.
